See Waldorf education in action.

The best way to understand the Vancouver Waldorf School is to experience it – to walk our campus, meet our teachers, and witness how learning unfolds through imagination, movement, and care from Early Childhood through Grade 8.

Experience the School

When you visit our school, you’ll sense the rhythm of the day – the calm focus of the classrooms, the hum of music, the laughter in the play yard, and the warmth of genuine connection.

Our admissions events are designed for adults to observe, listen, and ask questions. These visits offer time to reflect, meet faculty, and gain a true sense of how Waldorf education supports your child’s growth from toddle to early adolescence.

I like to say my children brought us here. This is such a loving place. It’s so welcoming.
Carman, VWS Parent, Admissions Coordinator

Ways to Visit

There are several ways to experience VWS. Each is hosted by our Faculty and Admissions Team. Some events are for adult visitors only; others welcome the whole family.

Join a small group for a campus walk-through, guided by a member of our team, PAC representative, or student ambassador. You’ll visit classrooms, outdoor spaces, and common areas, with time to ask questions along the way. Children are welcome.

Guided tours are available at our Lynn Valley campus and at Deer Fern Daycare in Moodyville. Check the event calendar for upcoming dates.

Step into a working classroom and experience the program with your children. Early Childhood Open Houses are play-based: your child will have a chance to take part in activities from the Preschool or Kindergarten day. Grade School Open Houses centre on active main lessons: you and your children will take part in a portion of the class as it’s being taught. Open Houses are offered for Early Childhood (Parent & Tot, Preschool, and Kindergarten), Grade School (Grades 1 through 8), and Deer Fern Daycare. Check the event calendar for upcoming dates.

Our information sessions begin with a presentation by school staff covering the Waldorf curriculum, program structure, and the admissions process, followed by a guided campus tour. These sessions are for adult visitors; we ask that you arrange childcare for this event. Sessions are offered for Early Childhood and Grade School. Check the event calendar for upcoming dates.

For families who are unable to visit in person, we offer virtual sessions led by our Head of School or Vice Principal. These Zoom calls cover our programs, the admissions timeline, and next steps, with time for your questions. Sessions are available for Early Childhood, Grade School, or both. Check the event calendar for upcoming dates.

If our scheduled events don’t fit your calendar, you can request a private tour. Complete the inquiry form to connect with a member of our admissions team and arrange a time that works for you.

Twice a year, VWS opens its doors to the wider community: the Children’s Winter Fair in November and the Spring Festival in May. These are full school celebrations where students, families, faculty, and neighbours gather for seasonal crafts, food, music, and the outdoor activities that mark the turning of the year in a Waldorf school. The creative work and daily life of the community are both on full display. Prospective families are warmly welcome. Come without an agenda and experience the school as it actually is.
