Cello Teacher
The Vancouver Waldorf School, located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking a Cello Teacher for a temporary, part-time position. The available position will commence immediately. The conditions of this position may be modified to fit the right candidate.
The applicant must have a Degree in Music and be able to acquire a BC Teaching Certificate upon hire. Waldorf teaching experience is preferred, and the applicant will be expected to prepare lesson plans per the Waldorf and BC Ministry of Education curriculums. The applicant must have strong classroom management skills and the ability to work with children with a range of abilities across different age groups. In addition to teaching the Waldorf school music curriculum to students in Grades 4-12, other duties will include:
- report writing and parent meetings
- evaluation of student progress, oral and written report writing and parent meetings
- parent interaction
- recess supervision
- committee work
- attendance at department and faculty meetings, concerts, and school-specific events
- regular professional development sessions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music
- BC Teaching Certificate or ability to qualify
- Waldorf Training Certificate or willingness to begin training within two years of hire
- Experience with and/or knowledge of Waldorf education
- Waldorf teaching experience an asset
